February 10 on 10….”Birthday Week”…I bent the rules a bit to include some shots from this past week, when my mom, my son, and I all celebrate our birthdays…On the 7th we ate coconut cake (Ina Garten’s recipe)…so delicious that my mom and I refer to it as “Goddess”, because the word “cake” undermines it so… On the 9th, we ate and enjoyed a Star Wars themed cake for my son, another Ina recipe, which did not disappoint… And on the 10th, my mom made a heart shaped cake, as she’s been doing for the past ahem, 29 or 41 years (I can’t remember the right number)…And this year it was eggless and delicious! I hope you forgive that I didn’t shoot my ten all on the same day, as the”rules” suggest, but the spirit of birthday week really needs to be shared…Please continue the circle of February 10 on 10 photographs by linking to my talented friend, Anna’s blog, at www.hankandwillie.com. Enjoy! And Happy February, everyone!
January 10 on 10
See the following post for my explanation of how to view the circle of 10….for January “10 on 10”!! Enjoy!
These photos are my addition to the 10 on 10 project that I was asked to participate in by 10 wonderful photographers. 10 Photographs taken on the 10th of every month. You probably just finished looking at my friend (since college) Anna’s post at www.hankandwillie.com -After you finish this post, please continue on the circle of 10 by viewing another 10 on 10 with Sarah Nagle Null, another Wheaton friend, at www.sarahnull.com .Today’s 10th finds us home, with one child sniffly, and one child home from school with sore throat and fever. There were claims of dizziness upon waking, but after some serious juice and water hydration, this complaint seems to have have forgotten. We awoke to a light “dusting” of snow on the ground, and the little one got decked out in her TinkerBell gear to “snowdance”. One child was not allowed up from the table until he attempted eating his breakfast, and so two hours were spent at the kitchen counter with such queries as “Mom, how did you sleep last night? What is your favorite fruit? favorite melon? favorite Star Wars character?„,you get the stall technique picture while Mom emptied dishes, folded clothes, photographed the little one. There are some special Christmas gifts that are featured here also: My son decked out in a scarf my mom knitted for me, with a wonderful lemon juicer…My son’s new star wars figures, who obviously infiltrated the peaceful dollhouse (yikes!)…Some beautiful handmade glass stars from my parents, purchased on Etsy, and paperwhites eager to become free. Christmas decorations are put away, we’re getting back to the “normal” routines, and looking forward, with excitement, to what 2012 will bring us. Happy New Year!
Welcome back for my November 10 on 10…a project I was invited to participate in with some great photographers..We take one photo each hour for ten hours, and we are supposed to post it on the 10th of each month. As you can see, I am late. I shot these on the 11th, Veterans Day. As I post these, I also will add a heartfelt thank you to all who have ever served our country, so that we may fly our flag with freedom and pride.
Here’s my October 10 on 10….if you click on the first photo, I think it opens up the smug mug account to show you all ten! I will have the technical difficulties figured out next month, promise!
Happy Fall! Maria
Near Danger at every turn…all in the name of 10 on 10! Thank you for including me…I hope that you will find me worthy…
I was asked to join a group of women photographers for this project called “10 on 10”…Ten photos, taken each hour for ten hours on one day and then posted on the 10th of each month. I had a few obstacles in my way to get this project done this month, chief among them clearing out some of my hard drive so my computer would stop telling me that my memory was full… and so this month I am posting on the 12th. I need this project desperately, if only to remind me to keep it simple, and be selective about my photos. These were taken at the end of August as we travelled to North Conway, New Hampshire, to find Diana’s Bath, a place that I had not been back to since my parents took me there as a little girl. I couldn’t stop smiling. After this post, I will post some dangers that I went through in order to complete my 10 on 10 assignment, Don’t miss it!
